Loèche-les-Bains (Leukerbad in German) is a municipality in Switzerland in the canton of Valais at 1411 m above sea level, located on the edge of the Dala River; It is famous for its numerous thermal springs. There are several thermal centres, the 2 biggest ones are the Burgerbad (considered one of the largest in Europe) and the Alpentherme. The Lindner Alpentherme is the largest center of wellness in the Alps. It has its own thermal spring with internal and external pool with saunas.
Take advantage of your stay to take the cable car that connects the spa to the Gemmi pass (2314 m) which is the only link between the canton of Valais and Bern.
If you like to walk, there are many paths that lead to Kanderberg, Wildstrubel or Adelboden.
If you prefer skiing, you will find the Torrent-Bahnen Leukerbad station (1410-2610 m).
Leukerbad hotels are not economical especially in winter that the Spa centres are always full so you can take a day trip through one of the Italian agencies of tourism in Varese for example which will transport you in comfortable buses and you could even bring your picnic for the day.
