Playacar is an upscale resort area of Playa del Carmen. Located south of Cozumel in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico in the municipality of Solidaridad, it is a gated community that has grown with Playa del Carmen, just south of its main urban area. Playacar is approximately 40 minutes drive from Cancun. It is composed of 2 sections: the first one, Playacar Phase 1 offers nice by-the-sea secluded beaches and very exclusive villas, very close to downtown Playa del Carmen. The second, Playacar Phase II, was built around a golf course designed by Robert von Hagge, and exposes all inclusive resorts and private villas all around.
Playacar is about 4 km from the centre of Playa del Carmen. So If you want to walk, you can do it in less than an hour or you can take a taxi too to get there easily.
You can also rent a car to visit Cancun, Tulum (ruins), Chichen Itza (Maya City), Xel Ha or Xcaret Eco Park (aquatic and cultural parks).
Another possibility of visits could be Cozumel and Islas Mujeres; taking an excursion for a day or only hiring a taxi-boat.
Playacar is very quiet so if you like walking, take your time and enjoy your walk.
If you only want to relax, enjoy the beach and don’t forget to protect your skin and to wear sunglasses.
