Mijas, Malaga, Andalusie, Costa del Sol, Spain

Mijas is a municipality in the province of Malaga in the autonomous community of Andalusia in Spain, on the Costa del Sol; 30 km from Malaga airport. It is divided into three areas: Mijas Pueblo (historical center), on a mountainside at 428 meters above sea level, Las Lagunas (industrial and commercial area) and La Cala (closest to the coast). Two rivers cross it, Las Pasadas and El Ojén, which join to form the river Fuengirola. To see: the oval shaped arenas (1900); the caves of the old forge; the church of the Immaculate Conception which was built on the ruins of the old mosque (1541) and which preserved the Mudéjar tower which was adapted as a bell tower; the Chapel of Calvary; San Sebastian Chruch (1541); the Hermit of the Virgin of La Peña, patroness of Mijas; the Gardens of the Wall; the Wine Museum; among others. There are several beaches but the sand is rather obscure and there are often rocks. The Burrotaxi is a special way to move with donkeys.

Tips

Mijas is a place with several year-round festivals. The most important and varied are in summer. Check before if you would like to attend a special festival: jazz, flamenco, Celtic night, latin night, there is something for everyone. During the summer, you will find the Nights of Moon and Beach in the neighborhoods that are next to beaches. Mijas Pueblo is also known to have a lot of life in the evening.

 

Agadir, Souss, Morocco

Agadir is a city in southwestern Morocco, located on the Atlantic coast, in the Souss region, 508 km south of Casablanca, 173 km of Essaouira and 235 km west of Marrakech. It is a city where there are three languages; Arabic, Berber and French. From 1950, Agadir is a dynamic city with the aperture of a new commercial port and good activities such as fishing, agriculture, canning, mining and tourism course which feels attracted by its mild climate throughout the year and its beautiful hotels. In 1952, the Grand Prix of Agadir was held and after the Grand Prix of Morocco. In 1960, there was a great earthquake that has ravaged the city and it was completely rebuilt with mandatory earthquake standards. The beach is over 10 km with a beautiful seafront promenade of 5 km with the best hotels, shops, restaurants, cafes,white houses or buildings of condominiums, etc. There are 340 sunny days per year and the temperature let you swim at any time, with mild winters and a summer heat that does not choke. Agadir is also the first port of Morocco and it has the role of argument to be the first tourist site in the country with Marrakech. It is a modern, dynamic city with tourists throughout the year.

Tips

It is an ideal city to spend long stays, rent an apartment, there are even with food service and cleaning, staying in a hotel with just breakfast or all inclusive. There are lots of activities to do but it is more pleasant to walk along the sea; the promenade is very wide and you have plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants if you prefer to stop a little bit at any time of day. For the best view of Agadir, go to the Casbah, where the old fortress was. A visit to the souks is also the discovery of a culture. You can buy your souvenirs, spices, typical handicraft products, etc., there.

Vittorio Emmanuele II Gallery, Milan, Lombardia, Italy

Vittorio Emanuele II Gallery is located in Duomo Square in Milan and is a passage that communicates the cathedral to La Scala. It has the name of King Victor Emmanuel II of Italy. In neo-classical style with a tendency to 19th century baroque, it was designed by the architect Giuseppe Mengoni. Its construction took eleven years, from 1867 to 1878, being inaugurated on January 1st , 1878 by King Victor Emmanuelle II. It has the shape of a cross and there is a triumphal arch that overlooks the Guomo Square. It is a prestigious place in the city and a must-see. It has an excellent glass roof, very beautiful mosaics on the floors, metal and cement structures, in short, breathtaking architecture. It houses several famous brand stores like Prada, Tod’s, Armani, Versace, etc. as well as bookstores, antique shops, restaurants, cafes and luxury boutiques. It’s always crowded and most are just passers-by who regularly use the passage.

Tips

There are two metro stations that leave you just a 3 minute walk away; Cordusio and Duomo.

It’s a great place to have a coffee or an aperitif while you watch the comings and goings of passers-by.
