View maps offline

  1. Make sure your phone or tablet is connected to the Internet, then open the Google Maps app.
  2. Sign into your Google Account if you haven’t already.
  3. Search for a place, like “san francisco.”
  4. Type“OK Maps”, and touch Save map to use offline to save the selected area of the map.

  5. Only what’s on the screen will be saved. Adjust the map by moving it and zooming in or out, as needed, then touch Save.
  6. Name the map, and then touch Save.
  7. After a few moments, you’ll see a message confirming that the map area has been saved.

Note: The maximum size for the area you can download is 50km x 50km. If you try to save an area bigger than that, you’ll be asked to zoom in to a smaller area.

Tips

If you’re already on a map that you want to save, you can save it without searching for a place.

  1. Move the map to the area you want to save.
  2. Touch inside the search box at the top, and scroll down to the bottom of the page.
  3. Touch Save map to use offline.

To see your saved offline maps:

  1. Open the Google Maps app.
  2. Touch the side menu > Your places.
  3. Scroll down to “Offline maps” and touch View all and manage.

Don’t be afraid of the close-up

True, the close-ups often hide the context in which the photo was taken. But they beautifully complement a broader view and give free rein to your more artistic side! For your close-ups, try to include an element that remember where you are: a flag or an entry in the language of the country, for example. Don't be afraid to get closer a subject (even living) or to have fun with the zoom.
