Barbastro, Huesca, Aragon, Spain

Barbastro is a Spanish city in the province of Huesca, Aragon, capital of the municipality of Somontano de Barbastro. It is located at 341 meters over sea level, between the union of two rivers, the Cinca and the Vero, in the Pre-Pyrenees area. The Vero River is channeled into the urban area for about 1 km. It is a favorable area for growing olive trees, almond trees, cereals and vineyards. To visit: the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption (1517-1533), the Episcopal Palace (sixteenth century), the Palace of Argensola (sixteenth and seventeenth century), the Sanctuary of Our Lady of El Pueyo, the Plaza de la Candelera, the Congress Palace (modern building, exhibition hall and theater), among others.

If you want to have a beautiful view of the city, the surroundings and the Pyrenees, go to the Belvedere of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of El Pueyo.

If you visit the city in the Easter week, you will find several mostly religious activities that have been classified as of great interest to tourism.

The Queen Mary 2

The Queen Mary 2 is a British transatlantic liner of the Cunard, built in Saint-Nazaire, France, at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique STX France and commissioned in 2004 to ensure the regular line Europe-North America. This is one of the longest ships in the world. The naval architect Stephen Payne created a vessel of 345 meters long, 41 meters wide and 72 meters high. It was christened by Queen Elizabeth II and her maiden voyage was on January 12th 2004 (from Southampton to Fort Lauderdale). The ship provides the service of the North Atlantic line from April to December, starting from either England or France or another European port arriving mostly in New York but sometimes Boston and Miami are also chosen as final destination. From January to April, he toured the world, generally from east to west and there are also some cruises offered on different dates. The ship was renovated in 2011. There are 355 inside cabins and 955 with balconies, twenty restaurants, bars, clubs, a theater, an outdoor cinema, an area with a planetarium showing films in three dimensions, a casino, a winter garden and a summer one, a nightclub, a library, five pools, eight jacuzzis, a spa and thalassotherapy, works of art of a fairly large value and 17 bridges for passengers.

Tips

If you want to travel while the ship goes around the world, from January to April, you can do just a part if you can not do the entire route. Check with your travel agent.

Bucerias, Mexico

Bucerias is located towards the North shore of Banderas Bay at about 20 minutes from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It was just a fishing village but nowadays many people choose this place for a quiet vacation. It has sandy beaches, cobblestone streets and people are really kind. You can also find restaurants of any kind along or near the beaches. There are a lot of activities to do in the village like whale watching (November to March); sea sea turtles (June to December); do deep sea fishing (all year long); see the Blue Footed Booby ( a special bird found in a few places in the world); see the iguanas of different colours and sizes, and more. Only 20 minutes by boat is full of underwater caves, reefs and neat tunnels. On your way there you can see dolphins, whales, sea turtles, manta rays, sea snakes and jumping fish.

Tips

You can find lots of accomodation: hotels, appartments, houses to rent for short or long periods and you can also invest if you prefer. Lots of American and Canadian use to spend their long holidays there.

There is a small open market in the town centre to buy local crafts and souvenirs.
