Pesaro is a port city located on the edge of the Adriatic Sea in the province of Pesaro and Urbino, in the Marche region, in Central Italy. Touristic and industrial centre located between two hills San Bartolo and Ardizio. Birthplace of the composer Gioacchino Rossini, which you can visit his house in the city centre, almost opposite the bishopric; since 1980, there is the Rossini Opera Festival. The city is crossed by the river Foglia. Its historic centre is rich in monuments of the Renaissance. The city has an urban area that extends beyond municipal boundaries and encompasses several other municipalities like Montelabbate and Vallefoglia. Its beaches are very sandy and since 2005 the city receives the ‘Blue flag’ award which is given to places that meet the quality criteria of its waters and the service they offer. Due to its geographical position between the sea and the hills, Pesaro is an ideal place for the production of high quality products like the olive oil, cheese, white truffle and red and white wines apart to have a fishing port fairly important for the local cuisine. Their kitchen in a few known meals to be bound on behalf of the great composer as ‘cannelloni Rossini’ pizza Rossini (base marguerite with eggs and mayonnaise) and rolls of veal to species and basil favourite Rossini’s meal). To see: the Ducal Palace built by Alessandro Sforza in the second half of the 15th century, (today seat of the prefecture); the Cathedral of St. Mary Assunta; the ‘Villa Imperiale’ (15th century); the Rocca Costanza (15th century) of cylindrical towers and surrounded by a large ditch, formerly used as a prison, ‘Popolo Square with the fountain; among others.

Pesaro is a beautiful destination to spend the holidays alone or with your family. The beaches are wide, clean and beautiful sea. There is a beautiful promenade next to the sea and a wide choice of hotels and accommodation for tourism. Its historic centre is well animated in the evening, you will find bars, cafes and restaurants nearby to spend a pleasant moment and to taste the good local cuisine.
The city has several museums to discover.
Since 1965, there is the International Film Festival dedicated to experimental cinema and film research.
