Burano is an island in the north of the lagoon of Venice, Italy, known for its lace and its canals lined with houses very colorful. It is not a city but a town in Venice, divided into six districts and consists of four islets: San Martino, San Mauro, Giudecca and Terranova; separated by three channels. The houses were painted with different colors by the fishermen to be able to recognize them more easily in the mist, since the fog in this region is rather dense; especially in winter. Burano counts only with a church, San Martino Church. There was a school of lace but it no longer works but it is a museum that presents beautiful pieces. Today, there are just a few women, lacemakers, who continue with this tradition.

Tips

If you are in Venice, you can take the vaporetto which will take you there in about fifty minutes. The same vaporetto passes through Murano and Mazorbo. There is also another line that connects Burano and Torcello in five minutes.

Consider that if you want to buy a piece really handmade by one of Burano’s lace-makers, you will have to pay for it. Everything you find cheaply comes from China or Hong Kong.

Rivière du Chêne Winery, St-Eustache, Quebec, Canada

The Rivière du Chêne Winery was founded in 1998 in St-Eustache, Quebec. At present, it counts with 16.5 acres of vineyards and more than 11,500 cases of wine are produced annually. It has received several honors at prestigious international competitions. The area also counts with banquet halls for events such as weddings, birthdays, business meetings, etc. From September to mid-October you can participate in the harvest; you must be 16 years old and be in good physical shape and know that you must participate in a work day that will go from 7:00 to 16:00.

Tips

The winery offers tastings throughout the year from 10:00 to 17:00 . Between June and the end of October it is also possible to visit the vineyard.
For groups , the visit and tasting are available year round by reservation.

Ingleses Beach, Florianopolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil

Ingleses Beach is one of the most popular destinations on the island of Florianopolis in southern Brazil all year long and especially during the summer because it has an excellent infrastructure that serves the beach and even a small shopping center. Bars, entertainment, restaurants, nightclubs and the strong presence of shops warranty families and youth diversion in the night, while during the day the beach is the favorite place. Its name was taken because of a wreck of a British vessel in the region between 1683 and 1737. These dates were established by objects found.
