Bar Eden or renamed Bar del Padrino, is the oldest bar in Forza d’Agro, an Italian commune in the province of Messina in Sicily. This bar was the village meeting point when the TV was not yet installed in homes. It is in the Cammareri Square which is also the oldest square of the village. This is a very simple place with very friendly owners, accustomed to receive tourists from around the world because in this bar, they shot a scene from the famous film ‘The Godfather’ and Al Pacino disgusts the typical products of the region just there. You will find a lot of photos inside that show the different personalities who passed through the bar, a rich treasure that shows us the over the years. In summer you might enjoy tables outside the bar.

Tips

Enjoy your town visiting for a good coffee, ‘granita’ or ‘panino’, you will not regret it.

The bar also has an excellent dairy.

The Acclimatization Garden of La Orotava, Port de la Cruz, Tenerife, Canary Islands

The Acclimatization Garden of La Orotava is located in Port de la Cruz, in the north of the island of Tenerife; also known as the Botanical Garden of Port de la Cruz. It was created by the Royal Order of King Carlos III, on August 17th , 1788, to be able to cultivate species from the tropics in a place of the Spanish territory. Two years later, the garden was already on site according to the original project and two years later new plantations were added. The garden enjoyed a moment of splendor thanks to the gardener Hermann Wildpret in the mid-nineteenth century. From 1941, the National Institute of Agricultural Research took the direction of the garden. You can find more than 3,000 species mostly exotic plants. One of the most popular species is the ficus with enormous roots dug up. You will also find orchids, Canary Islands dragon trees and palm trees among others. Several sculptures, streams and waterfalls also contribute to the beauty of the garden. The garden is open to the public throughout the year. There is also a library and a herbarium that you can visit and consult from Monday to Friday morning by appointment.

Tips

You can visit the garden from 09:00 to 18:00. On New Year’s Day, Easter Friday and Christmas Day, the garden is closed to the public.

Bring your camera to take beautiful pictures of this exuberant vegetation.

Wear comfortable shoes because it’s the perfect place to take a nice walk.

Saint Paul de Vence, Alpes-Maritimes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France

Saint Paul de Vence is a French commune in the Alpes-Maritimes region, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. The village stands on a rocky outcrop between the Maritime Alps and the Mediterranean, 26 km from Nice. At the time of François 1st, he ordered to raise the ramparts of the city (1544-1547) and we still find them there. There are several interesting places to visit such as the Cemetery of St-Paul de Vence where we find the tomb of Marc Chagall and St. Michael Chapel; the Collegiate Church of the Conversion of St-Paul (XII-XIII century); the Pontis (a passing above the High Street, dating from the fifteenth century); Seigneuriale tower that is currently the Mayor (at the church side), the Aqueduct of Moulins (that fed the mills of the town); the Local History Museum; the Chapel of the Holy Cross ((seventeenth century), among others.

Tips

It is a beautiful place to spend a quiet holiday and to know the history of the town and feel transported several centuries away.
It is also a place of art. The Maeght Foundation hosts temporary exhibitions and sculptures in situ in the park; you can visit the rooms and gardens.
There is another important famous place but visits aren’t allowed; the Inn of the Pigeon of gold where there are works of great painters as Modigliani, Picasso, Braque, Chagall. among others. The place works as an inn and restaurant anyway.
