West End Village is located at the western end on the north side of the island of Roatan, in the Caribbean Sea, in Honduras, it is the most popular tourist destination on the island. Roatan is known for its beaches, lush tropical environment, and magnificent coral reefs. Visitors go there specially for snorkeling and scuba diving; there are a lot of diving operators who have competitive prices as well as a variety of diving certifications. West End Village is like a “great big diving resort”. You can rent apartments, homes or simply go to hotels or hostels. You’ll find all what you need: restaurants, bars, internet cafés, grocery stores, gift shops, etc. The shore has beautiful white sand beaches protected by a living coral reef that is so close you can swim, snorkel, or do great shore diving a short walk from where you are staying.

 
Tips

Minibuses, taxis and car and motor scooter rentals are available for touring the island. You can also arrange a guided tour or fishing trips.
If you like cigars, you’ll find Honduran and Cuban ones at the gift shops. You can also buy good coffée.
If you like lobsters, enjoy going to one of the local restaurants, you’ll love it.

Chritmas market, Livigno, Italy

There is a typical tradition of the Alps for the Christmas period that are the famous markets. One of the most known and visited is that one of Livigno where each year a village of wooden houses is set up near the site of the church of Santa Maria Nascente, it is right at the entrance of the pedestrian area. Each house has several gift options for Christmas time, the most typical objects are those in wood, you can buy even statuettes for your creche directly to craftsmen. The market also has a part where you can try different gastronomic products of the region such as apple fritters, hot wine, roasted chestnuts, typical Valtellina desserts, etc. And of course, Santa Claus is present.

Tips

This year, the market is open from 6th to 23rd December. Check the schedule on their website as they are variable.
You can arrive by car or train, but also with several trips provided by tourism agencies from different cities; sometimes these are day trips, sometimes you can do a 3-4 day to visit the market, skiing, going to the spa or take a short vacation.

Paestum, Campania, Italy

Paestum is the name of an archaeological site located in the district of Capaccio-Paestum, Campania, southern Italy, formerly called Poseidonia, the name of a city of Great Greece. There are three Greek Doric temples and a museum, making part of the National Park of Cilento and Diano Valley. They say the Greek city was built in the late seventh century BC by the Greek Sybaris (now Calabria). The city changed hands through the centuries and was abandoned in the eleventh century (due of malaria) and the inhabitants founded the city of Capaccio a little further from there. There are important monuments of Greek and Roman times; other the three temples, there is also a small Roman amphitheater and a small funerary temple. The city walls (4.7 km long) are well preserved and there are four Roman gates. You can see the first temple of Hera (Zeus’ wife) or Basilica (called like that because it seemed rather a public meeting room that a religious building). The temple measuring 24.35 m x 54m, has 9 columns on the front and 18 on the sides, with a vegetable decoration neck capitals, with leaves, rosettes and lotus flowers. The second temple of Hera or Poseidon is preserved quite well and seems to have been inspired by the temple of Zeus at Olympia. The presence of two neighboring temples to the same deity, however, remains inexplicable. The third temple of Athena or Ceres is smaller than the others and there were three medieval graves in the basement that suggest they converted the temple into a Christian church. The museum has an extensive collection of Greek antiquities of southern Italy, funerary objects, many vases, jars, weapons and frescoes from the discoveries made in the Greek and Lucanian necropolis around Paestum.

Tips

If it’s a hot day do not forget to bring a bottle of water, sunglasses and comfortable shoes.
You can stay close to the site, there are several hotels and you can simultaneously enjoy to travel the region and visit the beautiful beaches nearby. It is an area with lots of interesting places to see. Ideally, rent a car and discover the region: Salerno, Amalfi, Positano, Naples, Pompeii, Agropoli, Capri and many other beautiful places wait for you.
