Kenya, crossed by the equator, is located in the east of the African continent by having neighboring South Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Tanzania and Uganda. To the east, it is bordered by the Indian Ocean for about 536 km. Mount Kenya (5199m) is the highest point and Tana is its longest river. Its capital and largest city is Nairobi. The official languages are Swahili and English. National parks and reserves represent 8% of the total area of the territory and the main tourist attraction of the country. The country has 26 parks, 34 reserves and 5 sanctuaries. Mount Kenya National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park, Sibiloi National Park, Central Island National Park and South Island National Park (the latter three are national parks of Lake Turkana); are listed as World Heritage by UNESCO.

Tips

The best way to visit the country is with a local guide either alone or in groups. Usually the groups are formed of 4 or 5 people with a guide. There are several tour operators who offer various trips and diversity of housing.
The country is well known by tourists who like doing photo-safari.
