Cayo Santa Maria is a small island of just sixteen kilometres long and at most two kilometers wide, located in Buena Vista Bay, North of the great island of Cuba, in the archipelago Jardines del Rey”(gardens of the King). This archipelago has been declared biosphere reservation by UNESCO. Cayo Santa Maria island is connected to the island of Cuba by a dam of forty-eight kilometres. This important project (of the firm Campaña de las villas) was initiated in 1989 to end 10 years later. The beaches and the hotels are all located on the north coast of the island. The south being composed of mangroves. The first hotel opened on the island was the Sol Cayo Santa Maria in 2001.

Tips

The place is known for having the best temperature of Cuba. It is important to note that the sea in Cayo Santa Maria is often rough with high waves. It is not uncommon to see a red flag on the beach. If you are looking for a calm sea, it would be wiser to opt for Cayo Ensenachos (nearby island of Cayo Santa María) or Cayo Guillermo. The two beaches at Cayo Ensenachos (Playa Megano and Playa Ensenachos) are among the most beautiful of all Cuba!

Despite this development, Cayo Santa Maria is a charming small island, quiet and very safe. In a short time, Cayo Santa Maria became the second tourist pole of Cuba after Varadero.

Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, Canada

Mont Saint-Hilaire is one of nine Monteregians hills located near Montreal (30km east). It is named in honor of Hilary of Poitiers, Doctor of the Church, and is part of the core area of the biosphere reserve of Mont-Saint-Hilaire. It covers an area of 16 km2 on the right side of the St. Lawrence River basin, separated from the city of Beloeil by the Richelieu River, giving its name to the municipality that is at his feet, the town of Mont Saint-Hilaire. It includes Lake Hertel. a reception pavilion, a career and the Gault Nature Reserve of McGill University with an area of just over 5 km open to visitors for outdoor activities where there are 4 peaks (Sugar Loaf, hill Burned, Rocky and Dieppe). There are several types of forests with a very diversified fauna and flora, and there are a variety of over 300 minerals. You can do cross-country skiing, hiking and bird watching.

Tips

If you want to get a good view of the region and see the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, go to the Sugar Loaf, you can also see the Adirondack mountains in upstate New York. From the top of Dieppe, you will see the Richelieu River. If you want to know the paths that are open to the public, go to the website site of the Nature Center to get a map. If you are a group of 20 people or more, you must apply for a permit to make your hike.

Pyramid of Cheops, Giza, Egypt

The Pyramid of Cheops or Great Pyramid of Giza is a monument built by the ancient Egyptians; more than 4,500 years ago, forming a pyramid with a square base of 230 m and 137 m in height; presumed tomb of Pharaoh Khufu. It is the only of the seven wonders of the world of antiquity to have survived until today, as being also the oldest. The pyramid is part of a complex where there is a funerary temple of two parts: valley temple or bottom (associated with a harbor jetty on the edge of the cultivated land) and an upper or top temple (tchapel where clergy deposited daily offerings), located near the pyramid. There is a monumental tiled corridor serving as connecting gallery between the parties. There are also three pyramids of queens, a satellite pyramid, surrounded by a wall, connected to the communication gallery and multiple mastabas (funeral buildings) grouped into three cemeteries located to the east behind the queens pyramids at south of the Great Pyramid, and on the west of the pyramid of King.

Tips

It is recommended to do business with a local guide accredited by the Ministry of Tourism to ensure that there is room for a domestic tour inside.
You can do a carriage ride to take pictures and see the pyramids and the countryside. Remember to negotiate the price.
There are many sellers on the site that can be quite pushy but if you are showing any interest they will not insist too much.
You can also visit the site at night to watch the spectacle of sound and light.
